How to Get Rid of Mold in Clothing

Mold in clothing is a top concern for homeowners whose home has been affected by mol d c ontamination. Left untreated the health effects can be disastrous to one and one’s family.

The process to remove mold from clothing is fairly straight forward.

Simply put the affecte d c lothing in the washing machine. Place 1 disposable packet of Oxy-Mold™, mol d c leaner into the washing machine and wash as normal. Dry the clothing as normal. The mold will be cleaned and removed from the clothing using the oxygen-enzyme technology.

Some tougher or denser clothing (denim) can be more difficult to clean. Soaking the clothing in the Oxy Mold MX-501™ concentrate for half an hour will kill the mold and mold spores completely. After this, wash with Oxy Mold according to the instructions above. This has proven efficient for even some of the toughest clothes cleaning jobs.

For some thicker clothing like jeans, sweatshirts, or other items like quilts or thick bedspreads, it may take several applications, as well as HEPA vacuuming in between applications, to remove all mold stains and musty odors from the materials.

What if my clothes require dry cleaning?

Clothes that require dry cleaning may have to be disposed of. Regular dry cleaning can not kill mold spores, so extra steps may need to be taken to clean these clothes. Check with the local dry cleaner to see if they’re aware of procedures for getting mold spores out of clothes.

Directions: Add 1 Oxy-Mold™ dissolvable packet to 2 gallons of warm water.

Stir for several minutes until the packet is gone. Douse, pump spray orpressure wash Oxy-Mold™ onto area to be cleaned. Let stand 10 minutes,and reapply product. Then scrub with brush to remove debris from theaffected area. Hose or pressure wash area.

Washing Machines: Add 1 Packet of Oxy-Mold™ to a load of laundry. Note: Some stains may be irreversible, especially on very porous materials. Always test wash any area before full application of product.
